This is my third attempt to start an introduction post. Lol, I don't know why I always feel so awkward with that. I almost always never know what to say. Anyway, I had this sudden urge to start blogging again. Yes, again. I use to be on livejournal.com when it was all the rage (I guess it still is), but it started to feel more like a chore to keep up with as opposed to being leisurely fun. A part of me has missed documenting my life in greater detail which brings me here. So, let's get it started!
For those of you reading (or who I hope is reading, ha!) already know me or know of me. So I figured I'd just tell you where I am at this point of my life. I live in Alabama with my sweet husband, Chase. He and I have been married since July, and it's so wild how we have been married for almost five months now. Time has flown by, and so many good things have already happened for us. I am so excited to see what God has in store for us, and I love how He has unfolded all the little blessings before our eyes. In addition to being married, I also teach a sweet group of four year olds and work in retail. Finding a full-time job has certainly proven to be difficult, so I swallowed a little bit of my pride and went into retail to boost the income a little. Hey, every little bit counts. Even though I am not exactly thrilled about working in retail, I remind myself to be thankful that I am able to have two part time jobs. I absolutely love my group of four year olds. Sometimes I feel like I learn more from them than they learn from me. They remind me to be thankful of the little things, teach me how to be resilient, and they have improved my patience immensely. So in between jobs, I find myself on pinterest. If you haven't discovered the greatness of pinterest, you definitely should! Just go to pinterest.com. You can thank me later.
And when I'm not working on a project that I found on pinterest, I spend time with Chase. I have enjoyed getting to know him on a deeper level. We have so much fun making new jokes, laughing with and at each other, and taking on new hobbies. I find myself cooking more. For those who really know me know that I don't really cook. I do love to bake, but I just haven't been able to bring myself to cook until now. I was on a roll a couple of weeks ago. I made taco soup, homemade pizza, and homemade macaroni and cheese. I have never cooked so much before. lol. Anyway, my absolute favorite thing to do with Chase is our Friday night dates. We always go out to eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant, and then come back home to watch Dateline. Sometimes we like to change it up by walking around Academy or Target after we eat, but that pretty much sums up our Friday night! I love how the both of us are so low maintenance. The little moments really do matter.
For the past week, Chase and I have been going to Lowe's to update our kitchen! The house we live in was built in the 60s, so the design is a bit outdated. Plus an older woman lived in the house before Chase, and it looks like her grandchildren went buck wild in here. All sorts of stuck on food splatterings are all over our back splash. And the color of the cabinets remind me of those embarrassingly unfortunate sweat stains on white t-shirts. We are painting the cabinets white, installing some wainscoting to help cover up some of the stained paneling (which I dislike soooo much, and the paneling is all throughout the house.), installing wainscoting above our cabinets to cover up some of the buckling, picked out new cabinet hardware, and putting up a ceramic back splash. I AM SO EXCITED! I'll post before, during, and after pictures when the project is complete. Thankfully our kitchen is the size of a hallway, and Chase and I both think that we can get this done before Christmas. We've already sanded the cabinets and I painted some of the shelves and cabinets. We hope (well, rather I hope) that we can finish painting the cabinets this week and get started on the cabinet doors next week. The back splash is going to be the last thing we install since that will take the most work. With the little bit of painting we've done so far, the kitchen looks so fab! The white really brightens the small space.
Ok, now that you feel as enthralled as me about my mini kitchen makeover, I'm going to stop my rambling for now. As dorky as this sounds, I have forgotten how much I like to update. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with this better.
